Crafting unique and exciting wines at the southern tip of Africa
Through the variety of its terroir, the uniqueness of its geography, and the foundation of its vineyards on a pristine natural environment, Lomond Wine Estate produces superb single-vineyard wines from individual vineyard blocks. A cooler climate and more consistent temperatures lead to a later ripening of the grapes, producing wines which are exciting, complex and daring, but also crafted by our master winemaker Wim Truter to always be enjoyable and food-friendly.
Fine wines from a unique location
The key to understanding Lomond lies in understandingthe uniqueness of the area.
Situated in the Uilenkraals River Valley near Gansbaai, Lomond Wine Estate forms part of the Cape Agulhas appellation of origin. This places it at the southern-most tip of Africa, where the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans meet. At just eight kilometres from the coast, it is perfectly situated to be cooled by sea breezes in the summer months, ensuring an ideal environment for its boutique selection of grape varietals.
Lomond’s cultivars, selected to match both the farm’s terroir and climate, consist of Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz, Sémillon, Nouvelle, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Mourvedre and Viognier.
