• Lomond Open Water Swim

    Finish your year well by participating in the Lomond Open Water Swim taking place on the Sunday of the long weekend in December!

    Whilst you are very close to South Africa’s Great White Shark capital, you will be safe while swimming in a beautiful freshwater dam surrounded by vineyards and fynbos valleys. An absolute treat as swimming in this dam is only allowed at these events.

    This is a Swimming South Africa Sanctioned event organized with the Western Cape Aquatics Open Water Board giving the opportunity to our Athletes to gain qualifying times for SA OWS Nationals.

    Join us for the Long Distance Event or the Fun Event, different age groups and caters for everyone, from the beginners, intermediate and long distance swimmers. A day spent in nature with our Athletes performing at their best. Fun, Family, Entertainment, Nature, Swimming are the key for a pleasant day at the Dam.

    Race details:

    10km & 5km– R250
    Technical Briefing: 07:30 / Event start at 07:45
    Age 14 and over
    Cut off 15min for 5km and 30min for 10km from 1st Male / Female touch
    Lomond Mile (1.6km)– R150
    Technical Briefing: 10:30 / Event start at 10:45
    Cut off 1 hour
    3km– R200
    Technical Briefing: 12:00 / Event start at 12:15
    Cut off 15min from 1st Male / Female touch
    500m– R100
    Technical Briefing: 13:15 / Event start at 13:30

    20% Discount available for athletes participating in the Triathlon the previous day. Please email us for your discount code (events@scuttle.co.za).

    You may enter for more than one distance. Enter first for your longest distance, and then a shorter distance can be purchased for R50 at checkout.

    All the swimmers need to wear a brightly coloured Swimming Cap. If you do not have one, then you can buy one for R20 with your entry.

    On the day from 06:45 until 30 minutes before the start of your race

    Bring your friends and family with to cheer you on!

    The venue is very spectator and child friendly and there will be enough food, beer and wine to keep them company and more than enough parking, close to the venue.

    The Lomond Triathlon is taking place the day before, so come and join in the fun while you are in the area. If you are not a cyclist or runner, make up a team and share in the festivities.

  • Lomond Triathlon 14/12/2019

    Be part of this stunning off-road Triathlon taking place just outside Gansbaai in the beautiful Overberg.

    You will be spoilt with a swim in a pristine dam and a cycle and run in the beautiful vineyards and fynbos of Lomond Wine Estate and the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy.

    Do the whole triathlon on your own or bring your friends and family to do it in a team (2 or 3-person team).

    The event takes place over a long weekend and The Lomond Open Water Swim (3km, 1 mile or 500m) will take place the following day at the same venue. What better way to enjoy a long weekend and finish the year well?

    There are several places to stay at Franskraal, Uilenkraalsmond, Pearly Beach, Stanford, Hermanus. Book early as these can become busy during the festive season.

    The Lomond Wine Estate is the perfect venue with ample parking close to the action. There will be great food from local vendors, live music, kids entertainment, great Lomond wine and other refreshments available so make sure to bring everyone along to congratulate you on doing this fun challenge!

  • Funky Fynbos at Lomond

    We’ve got a weekend full of fun planned for the farm this 20-22 of September.

    Join Friday, 20 September for pizza and wine from 3pm-7pm. Pickup your race packets and relax by the dam before the party really gets started over the weekend.

    Funky Lomond Dirt Fondo

     50km – R150 – Start time 08:00

    25km – R50 – Start time is 09:00

    Registration will be open Saturday from 06:30 until 15 minutes prior to event start time.

    Both routes feature a timed Strava KOM hillclimb section and descent. Prizes will be awarded to fastest male and female riders on each, as well as fastest times on the entire route. Don’t forget your GPS to join in on the fun!

    The 50km route consists of 1500m of elevation as riders traverse the fynbos-covered mountains around the Lomond dam. There will be two fully-stocked aid stations along the way. Gravel bikes are welcome but be prepared to shoulder it on a few of the technical singletrack sections and wide tires are highly recommended for the short sand sections.

    Funky Lomond Trail Run

    16km – R150 – Start time 08:15

    5km – R50 – Start time 09:15

    Registrations and late entries on Friday 20 September from 15:00 – 19:00 at our Pizza Party at Lomond, or on Saturday from 06:30 until 15 minutes prior to event start time.

    The 16km route will feature one timed Strava KOM section where prizes will be awarded to fastest male and female runner, as well as to the fastest around the entire route. The 5km will feature prizes for fastest male and female around the route.

    The 16km route consists of 325m of elevation as runners zig-zag through the fynbos to the top of Ben Lomond Mountain, overlooking the dam and vineyards below with the coastline just beyond. 

    The 5km route consists of 100m of elevation and takes runners through the famous Milkwood Forest on the farm and around the budding vineyards alongside the dam.

    Rugby by the Dam

    Grab a glass of sauvignon blanc or a cold beer after your race and join us outside by the dam where we’ll be showing the Springboks take on New Zealand’s All Blacks!

    Kayak Marathon

    Now for 2019 upgraded from MINI to MAXI!
    All the paddling action will be on the beautiful Lomond Dam with a fantastic marathon course laid out in clean, clear water! The new course is set for marathon distances and will be raced in three classes! Each lap is 4km with a short final lap of 1.4km. The open event will be raced over 5+1 laps for a total distance of 21.4km. Next up is a 3+1 lap race to test paddlers over 13.4km and finally paddlers just looking to chill on the water can lap it up over 1 plus a sausage for 5.4km! There will be a short portage between laps.
    Short course featuring the famous funky hat dress up and run portage for Guppy paddlers and their fab supporters!

    2019 Sauvignon Blanc Launch

    For the launch of our 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, we’ll be hosting a spectacular and intimate tasting of Lomond Sauvignon Blanc over the past 10 years, in our Milkwood Forest!

    Join winemaker, Hannes Meyer, in our majestical Milkwood Forest for a vertical Sauvignon Blanc tasting and compare the different vintages of Lomond Sauvignon Blanc!
    The 2019 vintage, is the first Lomond Sauvignon Blanc produced in Gansbaai’s own local winery – Lomond Wine Estate!
